Artist Statement

Having attended a number of mark making workshops I became inspired to capture the rural landscape in my surrounding locality. I have adopted the creative process encouraged in the workshops and gratefully acknowledge this influence on my work.

Method

The process I follow starts out in the landscape where I make marks that stand for the elements experienced there. In the studio I cut, tear, crop and rebuild my sketches into new pieces / collages that are stored in numerous sketch books. I use these as the basis for my paintings and work to create pieces that capture the original experiences of being out in the landscape.
